Game 7: Lafayette Leopards Football at Georgetown (11/2/13)
Lafayette at Georgetown
November 2, 2013
WASHINGTON, D.C. (11/2/13) Drew Reed continued his solid quarterback play, completing 18-of-24 for 275 yards and four touchdowns in the Leopards 45-27 win.
It was a one-score game at the end of the first half before Lafayette turned a pair of turnovers into 21 third-quarter points and pulled away to the 18-point victory.
On Lafayette’s second drive of the second half, Ross made another one of his signature grabs, a 31-yard reception from Reed. That set up the next play, a 10-yard toss from Reed to Mike Duncan for the 21-7 lead with 9:40 left in third.
Lafayette turned another Georgetown turnover into seven more points after a Draeland James interception. Reed hit Hall for 38 yards and then Dixon for 25 more. That set up Pat Creahan’s first career touchdown in 41 career games, a two-yard catch on a play-action pass that advanced the Leopards to a 28-7 lead in the third.
Lafayette would force another Hoya turnover when Damarcus Ingram intercepted Georgetown’s Nolan and set up Lafayette at the Georgetown 25. Senior TB Marcellus Irving picked up 21 yards on two carries before Reed completed a four-yard touchdown pass to Ross for the 35-7 lead at the end of three quarters.
Georgetown scored on the first play of the fourth quarter when Nolan (29-44-3 for 253 yards) hit Daniel Sprotte (11 catches for 102 and 2 TD’s) for a nine-yard score. The Leopards would put a stamp on the game on the ensuing kickoff as Matt Smalley’s took it a school-record 99 yards to the endzone. The return broke his previous record of 98 yards, which he set in the season opener.
Final Score: Lafayette 45, Georgetown 27.
